Yala safari tours in Sri Lanka is one of the famous activities in the world.

Yala National Park contains mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish.

 Yala is home to Sri Lanka’s “Big Four” (leopard, elephant, sloth bear, buffalo)
Animals include: Mammals: Leopards, elephants, sloth bears, wild water buffalo (and they are considered as Sri Lanka’s big four), spotted deer, and primates.Birds: Over 215 species, including six endemic species and numerous migratory waterbirds. Reptiles: Both mugger and saltwater crocodiles, along with snakes and endangered sea turtles. Amphibians: 18 species, including two endemics. Fish: Various freshwater species in the park’s reservoirs.

Its good to bring packing sunscreen, a safari cap, and sunglasses to protect you from the sun, plus sturdy walking shoes and a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated. And don’t forget whare relax cloths because it’s dusty and hot. Neutral-colored clothing (khaki/green), long sleeves/pants (sun and insect protection)

Most says 5 hours, But things doesn’t go that way. In my experience Yala safari have

3 hour safari which is 6.00 a.m to 9.00 a.m (most visitors prefer 3 hour safari)

6 hour safari which is 6.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m

12 hour safari 6.00 a.m to 6.00 p.m

Most time Get Your Guide have price per person, so for same safari jeep and tickets and transportation , if you have 3 person all were paid for same jeep.

In my experience from 6.00 a.m to 6.00 p.m its open but to safe guard the animals and etc.. from 12.00 p.m to 2.00 p.m they don’t allow to safari at park and jeeps are stopped by running.

From 6.00 a.m to 9.00 a.m is 3 hour safari time (3H) and most prefer.

From 6.00 a.m to 12.00 p.m (6H) is half day.

From 6.00 a.m to 6.00 p.m is full day (12H) -but it have lunch brake is 2 hours – 12 to 2)

The monstrous Tsunami of 2004 struck the park on that fateful day of December 26. The most fascinating discovery in the Tsunami’s aftermath was that no animals were in harm’s way, prompting a theory that ‘sixth sense’ of animals took them out of the path of on-coming waves. Findings based on two elephants with electronic collars suggest that reactions based on quick comprehension of clues may have prompted all the animals to escape the waves; a faculty that didn’t help people.

Yes – Yala safaris are generally safe if you follow the rules and your area tour guide’s instructions. Drivers/guides are experienced, and dangerous incidents are extremely rare. Key safety rules: stay in the vehicle, keep mobile phones on silent, and obey the guide. Do not leave the jeep except in designated rest never stick your arms or body out of windows, and refrain from any actions (loud noise, sudden movements) that might startle animals. Also don’t try to give food or touch or provoke wild animals.

Yala have 3 entrances which are Katagamuwa, Palatupana, Galge. We choose depending on the previous week data which entrance is good for spot animals. Special previous day data is used for spotting leopards. That is why our safari tours have 98 % of spotting animals in a safari.

Key “do not” rules include no feeding animals, no littering, no alcoholic beverages or smoking in the park, and no drones or weapons.
Remain quiet (no honking horns) and keep food sealed – even your snacks can attract animals.
You may take photos, but use no flash or loud camera noises.
Never exit the vehicle except at rest stops. Importantly, leave the park before closing time (6:00 PM)
