Tush was a fantastic guide and overall an incredible experience! Honestly the highlight of the trip.! Tush is very knowledgeable about all of Sri Lanka, its history, the landscape, and the animals on the safari as well. He arrived on time, and very chatty, full of fun and laughter throughout the whole trip. It was never awkward even though it was just me. We stopped along the way to try local fruit (and how to open them!) and he actually bought some hoppers for me to try as I never had, and enough for me to have as dinner when he dropped me to my place in Dickwella. The pick up was Ella we went to the safair and then he dropped me in Dickwella. The safari was also great, amazing to see the elephants but lots of other birds and animals, we saw peacocks, jackals, monkeys, waterbuffalo, and of course elephants! Fantastic experience highly recommend!

Tush is one of a kind.
He is a local from Badulla but has explored most of Sri Lanka, meaning he has so much knowledge and experience. He is so kind and generous, and values connecting with people from across the world and learning about each other’s cultures. He goes above and beyond on the tour – for example he stopped at Ella waterfall and the Tangalle war memorial on our transfer before/after safari to give us mini tours. We not only found the perfect tour guide but also a friend for whenever we return to Sri Lanka again 🙂

Udawalawe National Park, established on 30 June 1972, covers 32,315 hectares, including the Walawa Reservoir, and was created to protect wildlife, particularly elephants, displaced by the Walawe Basin Development Project. The park connects various reserves and spans Ratnapura and Moneragala districts. Known for its rich biodiversity and significant elephant population, it is a popular destination for nature lovers in Sri Lanka.

Udawalawe National Park contains mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish.
Animals include: Mammals: Leopards, elephants, sloth bears, wild water buffalo, spotted deer, and primates.Birds: Over 215 species, including six endemic species and numerous migratory waterbirds. Reptiles: Both mugger and freshwater water crocodiles, along with snakes and endangered sea turtles. Amphibians: 18 species, including two endemics. Fish: Various freshwater species in the park’s reservoirs.
